Newcastle United are desperate to improve their misfiring squad in the January transfer window and one player has been established as the prime target for the New Year.

Besiktas striker Cenk Tosun has caught the eye with electric performances for the club this season, helping to send the Turkish side into the knock-out stages of the Champions League and starring in a recent 2-0 win over rivals Galatasaray.

The form of the 26-year-old Turkish international has certainly not gone unnoticed and Newcastle will have plenty of competition in the market for his signature. However, it’s clear Besiktas don’t want to sell.

Quoted by Turkish FootballBesiktas’ vice-president Deniz Atalay has claimed the in-form striker should be attracting an astronomical price if he were to seal a transfer, setting a ridiculous price-tag in the process.

“If you ask me Cenk is worth €100 million, he has a very bright future. He are starting to reap the fruits from the seeds we sowed.”

Whilst the comments will come as a tongue in cheek quote, it does show that Besiktas won’t be willing to play ball in the January window.
