Newcastle United are set to benefit from a big move on the continent, with reports suggesting a deal will be handed ‘on a plate’ to Rafael Benitez’s side.

Sports Witness, citing Spanish outlet Marca, report that Real Madrid are edging closer to a deal for young Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper Kepa, which will make current stopper Kiko Casilla surplus to requirements.

Zinedine Zidane’s side blocked an exit for Casilla in the summer but are now prepared to allow the Spaniard to leave, with Newcastle’s name once again mentioned by the Spanish press- with it being known that Benitez is keen to sign a new goalkeeper.

The 31-year-old could even move to St. James’ Park on a free transfer, which would suit Newcastle given their financial situation- as takeover talks rumble on, likely limiting their spending in the New Year.

Rob Elliot has managed just three clean-sheets in 13 matches this season, whilst Karl Darlow has conceded in all of the three matches he has played this term.
