Newcastle United legend Micky Quinn says he fears the Magpies could be relegated this seas after a dismal run of form that sees them now only three points of the bottom of the table.

The Magpies have slipped to 16th in the Premier League after losing seven of their last eight top flight games.

A solitary goal from Wayne Rooney sealed yet further misery last night as Rafael Benitez’s side fell foul of a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Sam Allardyce’s Everton, and following the defeat, Quinn believes his former side are in real trouble.

“With no points from two home games, Arsenal and West Ham away then Man City at home I think we are officially in a relegation dog fight #hurryuptakeover” said Quinn on his official Twitter account.

He then went on to quote Rafael Benitez, saying: “Rafa Benitez: “We have changed the team, the shape and players – and still we are losing so we have to take responsibility, starting with me and that’s it,” before adding, “Maximum respect to Rafa with his honesty.”

Newcastle travel to Arsenal at the weekend as they look for their first win since the middle of October.
