Newcastle United have been handed a huge takeover boost after face-to-face talks between Mike Ashley and Amanda Staveley in London.

The SunĀ published photos of the pair enjoying a curry in the capital, as talks regarding a sale of the Premier League side continue to rumble on.

It’s a huge boost to fans amidst concerns of discussions hitting a brick wall, after Staveley’s opening offer for the Magpies was quickly rebuffed by Ashley- who is holding out for a hire figure and sees time running out on his initial Christmas deadline.

Completing a deal before the festive season is now extremely unlikely and talks could drag on beyond the January transfer window, which could therefore effect Rafael Benitez’s spending in the New Year- which is a concern as the club struggle in the Premier League.

Crucially, both parties are still confident of a deal but validation from the governing body will take 30 days after an agreement is in place, which means there will not be a swift turnaround for supporters.
