Newcastle United have been handed a vital boost ahead of the January transfer market as the agent of a midfield target has added fuel to the fire regarding a potential signing.

Tribal Football quotes the agent of Juventus midfielder Stefano Sturaro as suggesting that his client could leave the Italian giants in the mid-season, due to the immense amount of competition he faces for his spot.

Newcastle have been linked with the midfielder ahead of January and a deal now seems to be achievable, with Carlo Volpi confirming that Premier League sides are interested his client as we edge towards the New Year.

“Juventus have a team strong enough to be highly competitive for Serie A, Coppa Italia and Champions League. Stefano has already played both in CL and in Serie A this year and he wants to train even harder in order to be ready when his moment comes.”

“Juventus also have such midfielders as Matuidi, Marchisio and Khedira: they all are around 30 years old and incredibly talented and charismatic. There are clubs from the Premier [League] which made clear they are interested in Stefano, it would be unfair to name them but the news is coming out. January is imminent.”

“But there are many important games to play and Stefano is highly focused on his role in the team.”

The 24-year-old chose to stay in Turin despite interest in his services during the summer but he may seek a loan move in the New Year to increase his opportunities of first-team football, before returning to Italy next summer.
