Newcastle United have a new name on their January shopping list and he’s unlikely to break the bank, which could suit their financial situation.

Mike Ashley’s discussions for a takeover are rumbling on, as he’s already rejected an offer from Amanda Staveley, and it seems highly unlikely that any significant progress will be made before the transfer window opens in around three weeks time.

Ashley, therefore, is likely to be forced to finance any January activity for Rafael Benitez as the Magpies look to secure their Premier League status but the Spaniard is unlikely to be handed a large transfer kitty.

Fortunately, it seems Newcastle are working within their means and The Daily Mirror states a move for £4m-rated Vitesse Arnheim winger Milot Rashica is being targeted.

The 22-year-old can play on either flank and will improve the depth that Newcastle have in this area, easily the reliance on current options that include Christian Atsu and Matt Ritchie, the former of whom has recently struggled with injury.
