Newcastle United are determined to bolster their ranks in the January transfer window and it’s now been reported that they’re one of many signs who are admiring a Premier League midfielder.
England international Jack Wilshere continues to have an uncertain future at Arsenal as he enters the final few months of his contract and it remains to be seen whether he will be presented with a new contract, though he recently admitted that his preference would be to remain in North London.
Nevertheless, The Daily Mail states Newcastle are interested in the services of the 25-year-old along with fellow Premier League side West Ham, Italian outfit Napoli and French giants Marseille.
Wilshere has struggled to continuously earn first-team opportunities at Arsenal but has enjoyed football in the Europa League this season, as well as stepping into the ranks in the Premier League due to the recent injury to Aaron Ramsey.
His personal demands, should Newcastle enter the running, could be problematic and he may be reluctant to join a side that is threatened with a drop down to the Championship and whether that would have any impact on his quest to make Gareth Southgate’s World Cup squad.
