Newcastle United are set to reinstate their interest in Chelsea striker Michy Batshauyi after the New Year, reports 90 Minutes.

The Belgian star has had a lack of game time at Stamford Bridge this season, having to plays second fiddle to main striker Alvaro Morata.

Batshauyi has been limited to only five starts in all competitions for Antonio Conte’s side, however has more often than not found the net when given the opportunity, scoring an impressive nine goals.

‘Batsman’ has been vocal with his desire for first team football, leading to speculation that he could leave the Bridge this January.

Understandably, a number of clubs are interested in the 23-year-old, including Newcastle United who are looking to bolster their attacking options after a poor start to the season.

The Magpies are reported to want to take the Chelsea star on-loan until the end of the season, hoping that his goals will be able to fire them to safety.

Newcastle’s current front trio of Joselu, Dwight Gayle and Alexandar Mitrovic have managed just eight goals between them in all competitions this season.
