Newcastle United have been given a boost in their pursuit of Liverpool star Danny Ings after Jurgen Klopp revealed the star is ‘desperate’ for first-team action.

Ings has been limited to just over a dozen performances in a Red shirt since his 2015 move from Burnley, however returned to full fitness earlier this season.

The Englishman has still found first team opportunities difficult to come by however in an extremely competitive Liverpool front line, and Jurgen Klopp has revealed how the striker has been asking for more game time.

“The situation is like it is, the others ones are in a good shape as well. He’s always asking for minutes. It makes much more sense for him to play 90 minutes there than a few with us.” said Klopp.

“Injury wise everything is perfect. No issues any more. A lot to come for him.”

The latest revelation has fuelled rumours that Ings could be allowed to leave Anfield in January in order to garner more first-team opportunities, whether on-loan or permanently.

Newcastle are one of only a few clubs interested in the Engladn international, with former club Burnley and Stoke City also thought to be interested.
