Everton fixture a ‘must win’ says returning Magpies star

|

Newcastle midfielder Christian Atsu has described tomorrow night’s clash with Everton as a must-win after what has been a poor run of form for Rafael Benitez’s side.

The Magpies have lost six of the last seven top flight games, slipping to as low as 16th in the Premier League.

Atsu, who has been absent for most of those games with injury, returns to the squad for the clash with the Toffees, and insists his side must put their best foot forward at St James Park.

Atsu told the Chronicle: “This is a must win game for us.

“I know all the players will give everything in that game.

“We assure our fans that we will fight back and make sure we make them happy in the next game.”

Atsu faces off against his former club tomorrow night, however does not have happy memories of his time at Goodison Park, making only five appearances during his lacklustre loan-spell. The Ghanian however has put the past behind him, and is now focused on making his mark on the Premier League with his current club.

Atsu said: “I just concentrate on giving everything I have for Newcastle United now.

“I am pleased to be back from injury and able to help the team do their very best.”
