Newcastle United striker admits he is ‘losing patience’ at St James Park, fuelling rumours he could be on his way out of the club this year.

The Serbian striker is yet to start a Premier League game this season, playing on 49 minutes of top flight football since the start of the campaign – minutes in which he has managed to find the back of the net twice.

With the World Cup on the horizon and the striker set to star for Serbia, Mitrovic has admitted his lack of playing time is becoming a problem.

The 23-year-old is quoted by The Chronicle as saying: “I’m patient, but we will see. My patience is almost to the end, so we will see. I want to play. I want to be on the pitch. I’m patient, but we will see.

“I see where I am already. I’ve said already that I’m patient, but we will see. I don’t know what to say. I’m here, and we’ll see what’s happening.

“I want to be here. I want to play. I like this club. I train good, I try to use every minute. We will see. I’ll try to do my best in the next few weeks.”

Mitrovic has been linked with a move to a number of clubs after the New Year, including Brighton and Hove Albion.
