Newcastle United lost on Saturday afternoon to a last-gasp goal from struggling Bournemouth, which condemned the Magpies to back-to-back 1-0 defeats in the Premier League.
Rafael Benitez’s side have struggled for consistency in front of goal this season and have now scored just three goals in their last five matches, whilst their tally on ten goals scored from 11 matches is amongst the lowest in the division.
The Magpies’ woes come as they have failed to settle on a consistent option up front, with the decision to play both Joselu and Dwight Gayle this weekend not providing success and the latter still searching for his first Premier League goal this season.
Gayle’s performance caught the eyes of many though, who praised his display in the defeat, whilst others were far last convinced and stated their belief that he should be moved on when the window reopens in January.
Benitez will certainly be looking for ways to solve his issue over the course of the international break, with a testing clash with Manchester United just around the corner.

If there was a plus point from today, it was Dwight Gayle's performance. I thought he worked hard, looked lively & was a threat. #NUFC

Performance today shows Gayle, Manquillo and Murphy just don't have the PL quality needed.
