Newcastle forward Ayoze Perez has come in for a lot of flack for his performances at the start of the season.
There is no doubt that manager Rafa Benitez rates his compatriot but the 24 year old has failed to provide the creative spark that is expected of him playing in the number ten role.
Just one goal and one assist in ten league games has led to calls for Perez to be replaced in the side. Last season Mo Diame was rotated with the forward but the Senegalese international has shown no signs that he would be an improvement on the Spaniard, and failed to take his chance playing in a deeper role against Burnley on Monday night.
The big question is who should Rafa turn to as an alternative to Perez? The Magpies boss doesn’t seem to be convinced of his other options going by the Chronicle‘s report that the club are seeking another number ten in the January transfer window. Newcastle fans on Twitter are certainly frustrated about the forward’s form if we look at the comments over the past few days:
