Newcastle United have impressed in their return to the Premier League this season but Rafael Benitez’s biggest concern will be the lack of consistency in front of goal, as he’s failed to settle on a first-choice striker.
Summer signing Joselu has led the line for the majority of the season but looks to be short of the standard required, whilst Dwight Gayle is yet to find the net this term and Aleksander Mitrovic has seen his playing time limited to just two appearances off the bench.
Fans expect that issue to be solved in January, with the Magpies hopeful of having cash to spend following a takeover as talks continue heading into November, but there’s still plenty of football to be played between now and when the transfer window opens.
As such, those on social media were calling for one thing when Newcastle United legend and the Premier League’s all-time leading goalscorer Alan Shearer visited the training ground- they want him back in a black and white shirt.
