Newcastle United are at a crossroads in their future as discussions behind the scenes continue regarding a takeover, which could bring an end to the controversial tenure of Mike Ashley.

Ashley has often been reluctant to splash the cash to improve the squad and fans are hoping for change in January, as they seek improvements to help them retain their position in the top-flight.

After three consecutive defeats and just one victory in six Premier League matches, the Magpies have started to slide down the table and they’ve struggled to find consistency in front of goal.

Despite this, they could lose Serbian international Aleksandar Mitrovic as the 23-year-old is clearly unhappy with being continuously overlooked and recently dropped the biggest hint of all that he could be on the way out.

Quoted by The Chronicle, Mitrovic said:

“I’m patient, but we will see. My patience is almost to the end, so we will see. I want to play. I want to be on the pitch. I’m patient, but we will see.”

“I see where I am already. I’ve said already that I’m patient, but we will see. I don’t know what to say. I’m here, and we’ll see what’s happening. I want to be here. I want to play. I like this club. I train good, I try to use every minute.”

Mitrovic has played just three Premier League matches this season and has found the net once, giving him a better goals to game ratio that fellow strikers Joselu and Dwight Gayle.
