Newcastle winger Jacob Murphy only came on for the last eight minutes against Bournemouth on Saturday but he didn’t make the impression that manager Rafa Benitez or Magpies fans would have hoped.
The £12m summer signing from Norwich City has not managed to settle in quickly at St James’ Park, and no doubt the weight of expectation on his shoulders, and a lack of confidence, have contributed to his poor start in a Newcastle shirt.
Obviously Murphy still has time to turn things around at the club, but the Premier League can be an unforgiving environment for a 23 year old playing at the top level for the first time.
Benitez has expressed his belief that Murphy will come good eventually but the reaction on Twitter to the midfielder’s most recent displays has not been too kind to say the least.

Some fans are however keen to give Murphy more time to settle down at the club.
Jacob Murphy getting Thauvin treatment by #nufc fans – disgraceful. Get behind the lad, hardly instilling him with any confidence
