Newcastle United have been given a boost in their pursuit of Manchester United defender Luke Shaw, after reports have emerged the Red Devils are targeting a replacement for the out-of-favour star after the New Year.

According to reports from the Daily Mail, United are eyeing a January move for Argentine talent Enzo Diaz, currently of Agropecuario, is only 21-years of age however has caught the eye of scouts at Old Trafford following his impressive performances.

Any move for the young full-back would all but signal the end of Shaw’s career in Manchester, paving the way for him to leave the club in search of more regular first team football.

Shaw became the world’s most expensive teenager when he moved to United from Southampton for £30 million back in 2014, however has since been plagued with injury and has had only limited game time at Old Trafford.

Rafael Benitez is thought to be keen on adding the Englishman to his ranks this January, however would have to pay around £20 million for his services.
