Newcastle United are looking to bolster their ranks in the January window with a move for Galatasaray winger Garry Rodrigues, according to reports cited by The Shields Gazette.

The 27-year-old Cape Verde international was linked with a move to St. James’ Park in the summer but remained in Turkey, where he’s scored one goal and provided two assists in 12 league appearances for the Super Lig side.

Formerly of Spanish side Elche, the Dutch-born winger has been well travelled in recent years but Newcastle clearly believe he can provide a boost on the flanks- especially with Ghanian ace Christian Atsu battling to recover from injury.

However, fans may express concern at Rodrigues’ lack of experience at the highest level as he’s managed just a handful of appearances in the Europa League this season, whilst he’s never quite settled in one of Europe’s big five leagues.

In his career, his longest stint at one club was two-years with Greek outfit PAOK, before he moved to his current employers.
