Newcastle United target Cenk Tosun has spoke out on his failed move to Crystal Palace during the summer, saying he is ‘very happy’ it didn’t happen.

The Turkey international was close to a late summer move to Selhurst Park, however the deal fell through leaving him to stay with current club Besiktas until at least January.

The striker has found himself in fantastic form this season, scoring 11 times in all competitions, something he believes would not have been possible should he have made the switch to the Eagles.

“About my transfer to Crystal Palace, I can say that I’m very happy the move failed,” he has been quoted as saying to BeINSports Haber.

“Because I get to stay at the club and I am doing very well at the moment in both the league and the Champions League.”

Tosun continues to be linked with a move to England, with a host of Premier League club’s chasing the Super Lig hitman, including Newcastle, Tottenham and Everton.
