Brighton & Hove Albion goalkeeper Tim Krul has stated he has ‘no regrets’ after swapping the North East for the South Coast in the summer, joining the Seagulls for their maiden Premier League campaign.

Krul made a permanent switch to Brighton, who are managed by former Newcastle boss Chris Hughton, and has immediately found his feet, quoted by The Chronicle as admitting the transition to the club was far easier than he anticipated.

“It’s been easier than I expected. Literally after two weeks I found a house for my little girl and family. They moved down straight away. The club did everything to sort things out and there’s no big timers. Everyone wants to help each other and everyone has one aim, staying in the league. It’s nice to be part of it. Ben Roberts is a top goalkeeping coach, so I really haven’t got any regrets.”

“From what I’ve seen so far, 100 per cent. The facilities, the set up, the people, I could not have made a better decision, not only because it is six degrees warmer!”

Krul spent 12 years at Newcastle, joining as a 17-year-old, but found himself struggling with injuries, leading to spells on-loan with PSV Eindhoven and Ajax in his home nation, but found he was surplus to requirements upon his return.

Whilst he’s yet to earn a Premier League start for Brighton, with Australian international Mathew Ryan being first-choice, he’s insistent he’s ready when called upon.

“If the gaffer needs us or Mat got injured, I need to be ready and literally it can happen any second. If you look at other clubs, Ben Foster got injured (for West Brom), the No.2 got injured, it’s around the corner.”

“It’s a different position for myself, because I’m used to playing week in, week out, but I feel fit, I feel great and I feel I’m getting better every day again.”

Like Newcastle, Brighton have made a fine start to life in the top-flight as the Seagulls currently sit eighth in the table, just a single point ahead of the Magpies.
