Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter to praise striker Alexandar Mitrovic after he played a key role in the Magpies 2-2 draw with West Brom this evening.
Rafael Benitez’s side had trailed 2-0 at the Hawthorns thanks to goals from Hal Robson-Kanu and Sam Field either side of the half-time whistle.
On course for their first top flight win since August, the Baggies couldn’t hold on however.
Ciaran Clark quickly pulled one before Salomon Rondon diverted a corner onto the unlucky Evans and then into the net for the equaliser late on.
While a draw wasn’t what the travelling fans were hoping for having lost four consecutive Premier League games going into the clash, there were plenty of positives, namely the performance of Mitrovic.
Introduced on 73 minutes, the Serb ran the show for the final part of the game and was instrumental in the Magpies getting their much deserved equaliser.
The fans think it’s time for him to start …
Mitrovic showed more character more fight more attacking power in a whole 20 minutes but yet Joselu is a head of him hopefully Rafa wakes up and gives Mitrovic a chance.

Even if you don’t rate mitrovic you got to admit he has a way bigger impact than Joselu #nufc

Mitrovic has had a massive impact.. already done more than Joselu has done in the last 4 games #nufc

The only benefit I can see of playing Joselu instead of Mitrovic is that Joselu is unlikely to be sent off whereas Mitro is a big risk. Otherwise Mitro is better in every department- surely that's a risk worth taking? #NUFC

Good point for #nufc but could've been more in the end. Much more of a threat with Mitrovic up front. Great character to come back from 2-0 down too.
