Newcastle are set to make a shock January move for Barcelona keeper Jasper Cillessen, according to reports from Spain.
Manager Rafael Benitez is keen to add a new number one this winter having let go of Tim Krul to Brighton during the summer and currently having Rob Elliott as the club’s only experienced shot-stopper.
Cillessen, who moved to the Camp Nou last summer from Ajax, however has made only 1 start for his new club in La Liga since the move, playing second fiddle to Barca’s first choice keeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
The Dutch keeper is still his country’s number one choice between the sticks, but is thought to be on the search for more regular first team football after a frustrating year in Spain.
While both Benitez and Cillessen appear to be keen on the move, the Toon army seem to think otherwise, for the most part anyway …

I'd take him but we need a striker.

That'd be a great shout, seen a bit of him in the Copa Del Ray.

All these people saying we need a striker, we’ll yeah, but do you just turn down a decent player if they become available? Of course not
