Newcastle United fans have called for Alexandar Mitrovic to given more opportunities after the striker admitted he is ‘losing patience’ at St James Park, fuelling rumours he could be on his way out of the club this year.
With the World Cup on the horizon and the striker set to star for Serbia, Mitrovic has admitted his lack of playing time is becoming a problem.
The Serbian striker is yet to start a Premier League game this season, playing on 49 minutes of top flight football since the start of the campaign – minutes in which he has managed to find the back of the net twice.
The 23-year-old is quoted by The Chronicle as saying: “I’m patient, but we will see. My patience is almost to the end, so we will see. I want to play. I want to be on the pitch. I’m patient, but we will see.
“I see where I am already. I’ve said already that I’m patient, but we will see. I don’t know what to say. I’m here, and we’ll see what’s happening.
“I want to be here. I want to play. I like this club. I train good, I try to use every minute. We will see. I’ll try to do my best in the next few weeks.”
Mitrovic has been linked with a move to a number of clubs after the New Year, including Brighton and Hove Albion, and it seems Newcastle fans are desperate for the Serb to be given the nod as the club’s main striker before it’s too late …
Regardless of which side of the fence you sit on the mitro debate, the lad never has a bad word to say about the club. He clearly wants game time though, and needs it in the build up to the World Cup. He’ll be off in jan..

I could understand Rafa keeping mitro apart if Joselu and Gayle been playing well, but honestly think mitro deserves a chance to start now? We need a win desperately now and maybe some changes would do?

I miss seeing him on the pitch. He needs game time.

Whatever Rafa has against Mitrovic and Mbemba….time to let it go. Chancel is our most gifted defender and nobody can deny that Mitro is better than Joselu. Not even close. #NUFC
