Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez is plotting to part ways with goalkeeper Karl Darlow after the New Year as he looks to bring in a new keeper, reports the Chronicle.

Darlow has featured only once this season for Rafael Benitez’s side, his solitary appearance coming the league cup, with the Spaniard opting to play Rob Elliott as his number one so far this campaign.

After being linked with a number of shot stoppers including Barcelona’s Jasper Cillessen, January could see Darlow – who has been with the Tyneside club since 2014 – leave the Magpies.

The former Notts Forrest star is thought not to be part of the club’s long term plans despite a solid season last year in which he was pivotal in guiding Newcastle back to the Premier League.

Darlow made 36 appearances last year as the Magpies won the title.

Do you think Benitez should let go of the young Englishman?
