Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez says he is ‘not concerned’ with his sides run of three consecutive defeats, and believes his side are still ‘exceeding expectations’ this season.

The Magpies have lost three on the bounce in what has been a poor few weeks for the Spaniard’s side.

Back-to-back 1-0 defeats to both Burnley and Bournemouth were followed by a 4-1 drubbing at the hands of Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United – a run of form that has seen Newcastle slip down to 11th in the Premier League having been as high as fourth at the start of October.

Benitez however has called for perspective, and says he side will get back to winning ways.

“Obviously it’s important to start winning games, and we have the opportunity to put things right [against Watford],” said the Spaniard speaking with Sky Sports.

“But my message is very clear. At the end of the transfer window no-one would have expected us to be where we are at the moment.

“I’m disappointed because maybe the Bournemouth game could be different but we have to be more consistent for 90 minutes. We did really well against Manchester United but just for 30 minutes.

“We have to make sure we improve and do it for 90.”

Newcastle welcome Watford to St James Park this Saturday as they look for their first top flight points in November.
