Newcastle United have performed admirably in their return to the Premier League but have endured a slump in recent weeks, with back-to-back 1-0 defeats against Burnley and Bournemouth.

The result sees the Magpies floundering in mid-table and failing to push on, which is a concern as the club’s next fixture after the international break is a testing trip to face Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Benitez’s side have struggled to find form in front of goal this season, scoring just three goals in their last five matches, which has led to suggestions that the club will look to splash the cash in January to improve their options.

Whilst ongoing takeover talks provide excitement and potentially money to spend, Benitez isn’t focused on the January transfer just yet and is instead looking for immediate improvements from the squad.

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live, the Spaniard said:

“No. We are thinking about correcting the things that we haven’t done well, and we have a couple of weeks to keep working and trying to do our best.”

With three away games in the next four, include a trip to face the Red Devils and Chelsea, pressure is on Newcastle.
