Rafael Benitez is reportedly keeping tabs on Athletic Bilbao striker Gorka Guruzeta ahead of the January transfer window, and is thought to be a big fan of the young Spaniard.
Arsenal and Chelsea are understood to be too monitoring Guruzeta’s situation, and will send scouts to watch him in action on Wednesday night when he will face off against Manchester United’s U23s.
Currently plying his trade with Athletic Bilbao’s B team in the second tier of Spanish football, Guruzeta has found the net six times in 14 appearances.
With now less than a year remaining on his contract, a host of Premier League clubs have stated their interest i the 21-year-old striker, hoping a mere compensation fee will be enough to lure him away from his home country and to England’s top division.
The Spaniard, who started his career with amateur side Antiguoko KA, joined Bilbao’s youth set-up in 2014, and is yet to make an appearance for the first team.
