Newcastle midfielder Jack Colback will likely depart the Magpies either permanently or on loan in the January transfer window, according to the Shields Gazette, despite under 23 boss Peter Beardsley revealing that there is no ill will between the player and Rafa Benitez.

The 27 year old reportedly had a training ground row with the Newcastle manager back in August, and has not featured in the first team so far this season. He has effectively been banished to the under 23 squad with Benitez making it clear  the midfielder does not feature in his future plans.

Speaking about Colback’s relationship with Benitez, Beardsley said:

“He’s been really good. He’s been good as gold. To be fair to Rafa, he’s been good with him. They still get on well.”

Colback controversially signed on a free transfer from near neighbours Sunderland back in 2014 and he has made 102 appearances for the Magpies in his three years at the club. Before the close of the transfer window he could have joined either Hull City or Wolves but the Mirror reports that the player turned down the moves due to geographical reasons.
