Newcastle United have found themselves at a crossroads following the news that Mike Ashley has put the club up for sale but the fans have been reacting positively, as they’re keen to see the controversial owner leave the club.
Ashley has never been popular at St. James’ Park for a number of reasons, including the decision to rename the stadium the ‘Sports Direct Arena’ to promote his business despite a wealth of backlash from the fans, and his tenure at the club seems to be coming to a close after a decade.
A number of potential investors have been linked with the club, with Newcastle aiming to complete a sale before Christmas, but fans seem to have already decided who they want to see take the reigns- and it’s certainly likely to cause a chuckle.
Rolling back the years to remember a time when this seemed like a genuine possibility, fans on social media have been calling for WWE owner Vince McMahon to reignite his interest in the Premier League side- with some even sending tweets directly, urging him to make a move.
It’s unlikely that McMahon would actually complete a takeover of Newcastle at this time but it’s certainly one that would lead to a wealth of interesting stories- and Triple H may just be the midfield presence that the club needs…

Imagine if @VinceMcMahon takes over #nufc we could have wrestlemania at St James Park! Jokes aside I’m excited for the future as long as the new owners are loaded and are prepared to back Rafa.
