Sheffield United have denied that attacking midfielder David Brooks has a buyout clause inserted into his new contract.

The 20 year old was reportedly a £10m target for Newcastle, Liverpool and Arsenal but the Welshman signed a new deal earlier this week keeping him at the Championship club until 2021.

Local newspaper The Star however asked manager Chris Wilder whether any release fee had been stipulated in the contract that Brooks signed with the team. The Blades boss was adamant that no clause was included in the deal and that the player will remain at the club:

“There is no buy-out clause in the contract. It is just about time (the length of the contract).”

Brooks has broken through into Sheffield United’s first team this season, having made 12 appearances and provided three assists. His impressive performances in the Championship have helped the newly promoted side to third in the table, while he was even called up for Wales’s senior side for the last two World Cup qualifiers against Georgia and Republic of Ireland.
