Newcastle will have to fight off three other Premier League sides if they want to land Liverpool striker Danny Ings, according to the Sun.

The 25 year old has been on the Magpies’ radar for a while and it seems that Rafa Benitez will attempt to sign the player on loan in the January transfer window. The club will however be joined in the race by Southampton, Watford and Crystal Palace.

Ings has recovered from a long term knee injury, and returned to action last month in Liverpool’s 2-0 defeat to Leicester City in the Carabao Cup. He has not featured in the first team since then though, and has been playing for the Reds’ under 23 side in order to gain full fitness.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is reportedly a fan of Ings’ ability but the former Burnley man, who also one England cap, is unlikely to be given many first team chances, and the Reds are believed to be prepared to let the forward go on a temporary basis so he can get more game time.
