Toon army over the moon with star’s Player of the Month nomination

Newcastle fans have been left delighted after club captain Jamaal Lascelles has been included in a shortlist of seven players nominated for September’s ‘Premier League Player of the Month’.

Manchester City duo Sergio Aguero and Kevin De Bruyne, whose form have been vital in seeing City storm to the top of the Premier League, both too make the shortlist, as does Brighton’s Pascal Gross who scored a brace in the Seasiders first ever top flight win over West Brom last month.

Tottneham’s Harry Kane, who scored six goals last month and is favourite to land the prize, is also included, as are both Alvaro Morata of Chelsea and Manchester United’s Romelu Lukaku, who netted an impressive four times each.

Lascelles completes the seven man list.

the Englishman scored two winners in a run of three straight wins for the Magpies last month, a run of form that saw Rafael Benitez’s side shoot up to as high as fourth in the table after a disappointing opening few games.
