Newcastle United fans have been left overjoyed by the news that a takeover of the club could happen as soon as the end of the year.

Outlet Arab News (via Sheild Gazette) report that Amanda Staveley, the Yorkshire-born businesswoman who was present for at St James’ Park for the weekend’s clash with Liverpool, is extremely interested in taking the Tyneside club off the hands of current owner Mike Ashley, and would be keen to complete a move before the New Year.

A report from the media outlet read: “Amanda Staveley, the financial entrepreneur who made her name in Middle East investment, could use Arabian Gulf money in a possible takeover of English football club Newcastle United.”

It then continued: “A source close to Staveley told Arab News that her interest in Newcastle was at an early stage, that there had been no talks yet with Mike Ashley, the current owner, and that she was still interested in other clubs in the EPL.

“But it was also indicated that a deal could be done relatively quickly, if serious talks got underway, possibly by the end of the year.”
