Newcastle United have found themselves at a crossroads, albeit an exciting one, as Mike Ashley officially put the Premier League side up for sale this weekend, with the intention to complete a deal before Christmas.

Ashley has been an unpopular figure amongst Magpies supporters for the entirety of his decade in charge at Tyneside, due to decisions that include renaming St. James’ Park, and fans are understandably delighted to see the back of the Sports Direct owner.

However, they’ve been left riled up by comments from former Newcastle United midfielder Kieron Dyer, who stated that he feels Ashley has been treated unfairly at times- claiming that fans are spoilt and they’re wrong to see themselves as a Champions League side.

Dyer, who spent eight seasons at Newcastle, has certainly upset the apple cart with his comments and he’s now been on the receiving end of backlash from fans on social media, who weren’t afraid to share their views on the situation.
