26-year-old midfielder Oriol Romeu has been Southampton’s best player at this early stage of the season, as things could have been a lot worse without the Spaniard in the heart of their side. He’s played all seven matches for the Saints this season.
Yet to score or provide an assist, Romeu’s involvement is mostly defensive and it presents a platform for Southampton to build upon. Alongside his midfield partner, more on him later, Southampton have the opportunity to improve their form and turn their campaign around.
