Newcastle United have renewed optimism surrounding their club due to the news that Mike Ashley has put the club up for sale but it does leave the Magpies at a crossroads, especially in regards to the January transfer window.
Ashley intends to complete the sale of the Premier League side before Christmas and, if things go accordingly, then the new owners should be ready to invest funds for Rafael Benitez to utilise in the January transfer window.
However, with just a few months until the festive season, there is the danger that a deal will not be concluded in that timeframe and that could make things extremely difficult in the January window- as Ashley won’t be willing to invest funds.
Therefore, Rafael Benitez may have to trim his squad and sell players in order to raise funds for incoming pieces of business, which is always a challenge, but the Spaniard’s experience means that the club should be able to cope.
