Newcastle face fresh competition in their race to sign Besiktas star Cenk Tosun after Everton have signalled their interest in signing the in-form striker, reports the Chronicle.

Tosun, who has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs over the past months including Crystal Palace and Tottenham, has enjoyed a fine start to the season, scoring 13 times in all competitions for club and country since the start of the new campaign.

Palace were favourites to land the Turkey international, however saw a reported late summer bid of £20 million for him rejected, and while they are expected to go in again for Tosun this January, they will face stiff competition for his signature.

Newcastle, who have enjoyed a fine start to life back in England’s top flight, are keen to bolster their forward options with striker’s Joselu, Alexander Mitrovic and Dwight Gayle currently failing to find the net regularly.

Everton too are looking to Tosun to solve their own striking woes, as David Unsworth side currently sit 18th in the Premier League table despite spending over £100 million on new signings during the summer.
