Former Newcastle United star Hatem Ben Arfa has been linked with a return to the Premier League, however not with his former club, but instead with struggling Leicester City, reports the Chronicle.

Claude Puel, who was recently appointed as the new boss of the The Foxes after the sacking of Craig Shakespeare, has reportedly identified Ben Arfa as his top target and could move for him as soon as January.

Puel and the Frenchman worked together during their time at Nice, a period which saw Ben Arfa earn a shock move to French giants PSG.

That move however has not worked out for the ex-Newcastle man, who is now struggling for a place on the bench in a star studded team consisting of the likes of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, and has recently trained with the club’s reserves.

Ben Arfa spent 3-and-a-half seasons with the Magpies between 2010 and 2014, making 86 appearances and scoring 14 goals.
