Newcastle United struggled to get the business done during the summer that they wanted to, with Mike Ashley tight on finances, and Rafael Benitez may encounter similar problems in the new year when the window re-opens.
Takeover talk means that Ashley is likely to be highly reluctant to inject any more cash into the side, which in turn means that Benitez will have to be creative with the finances- boosting spending money by offloading players that are surplus to requirements.
Fortunately, there’s a number of players who fit that criteria at the club and Benitez will certainly be looking to cash-in; which would raise money for transfer targets, as well as freeing up wages that will help negotiate with any new faces.
