Newcastle United are flying high in the Premier League season but they’re yet to find consistency in front of goal from their squad, with the Magpies’ attacking options not providing the sort of threat Rafael Benitez will want to see.
Summer signing Joselu, last year’s top-scorer Dwight Gayle and Serbian international Aleksander Mitrovic have all struggled to hit their best form in the Premier League this season and it leaves Benitez at a crossroads.
The club’s ongoing takeover talks, which are targeted to be completed before the festive season, should hand the Spanish manager money to spend in the January window and a striker may well be on his shopping list.
French press have claimed the Magpies are chasing St. Etienne’s Jonathan Bamba and he may well be the man they look to bring in, although there is other options within French football that should be considered.
