Newcastle United have performed admirably since their return to the Premier League this season, sitting with ten points following seven matches- putting them a quarter of the way towards their 40-point target, which should be enough to secure their top-flight status for another year.
The Magpies didn’t quite get all the business they wanted done in the summer though, with Rafael Benitez clashing with chairman Mike Ashley due to a lack of funds being made available, and that’s led to speculation on the future of the Spanish boss.
Ashley, for his part, has made it clear that he’s open to selling his majority stake in the club but wants to ensure that whoever comes in has the dedication and finances to take the club forward- which may result in a long wait for the fans.
There’s likely to be some money to spend in January though and Newcastle United will want to bring in players with the experience to help their survival, with homegrown players being the best option due to the Premier League’s regulations.
