Rafael Benitez has given his ‘wish list’ to clubs scouts ahead of the January transfer window, reports the Chronicle.

The Spaniard is looking to re-build his side after a quiet summer and is already on the look out for a number of players, including a first team ready central midfielder and a new striker.

Scouts are understood to already be preparing to visit Spain, France, Germany, Holland, Belgium, Portugal and further afield into eastern Europe as the club looks for new talent in the coming transfer windows.

The Magpies had a relatively quiet summer and failed to bring in a number of their top targets, however the few signings they did make have thus far been a success. Mikel Merino – on-loan from Borussia Dortmund was recently named the club’s Player of the Month – and Stoke City’s Joselu has also had a good start to his career at St James’ Park.

Benitez now wants to add more high quality additions as he aims to ensure Newcastle’s survival this season.
