Newcastle defender Ciaran Clark has hailed his ‘fully committed’ team-mates after back-to-back top flight victories, and believes they can repeat the same feat against Stoke tomorrow to make it a hat-trick of victories.

The Magpies welcome Mark Hughes’ Stoke City to St James’ Park tomorrow afternoon for a 3pm kick-off.

Clark has said the players desire to never give up – with reference to his own goal line clearance against West Ham and Jamaal Lascelles late winner over Swansea a week later – has been key to their success.

“It’s funny but it shows how committed we are at both ends and Jamaal was brilliant to get back.” said Clark speaking with the Chronicle.

“Once Abraham went round Rob Elliot he didn’t want to commit himself and bring him down because he didn’t want to give away a penalty.

“It was fantastic for him to get it off the line and Jamaal then goes up the other end and gets the goal.

“We don’t mind who scores as long as they go in. We just need to keep things going.”

The Magpies haven’t beaten Stoke since late 2013, and have come out on the losing end in 3 of their last 5 clashes with the Potters, however Clark remains positive his side can turn that record around at the weekend.

“Everybody is together. We have a great squad and we are all fully committed to doing as well as we can for each other and the club. We have taken the performance from the West Ham game down to Swansea and now we look to build on both at home to Stoke.” said the Republic of Ireland international.

“We are ready to try to do the same again.”
