Midfielder Matt Richie has rged Newcastle to ‘make new memories’ in the Premier League after an impressive string of results that see his side sit fourth in the table.
The Magpies had a tough start to the new campaign with back-to-back defeats against both Tottenham and Huddersfield, however have enjoyed a turn of fortune in recent weeks which has seen them record three consecutive victories against West Ham, Swansea and most recently Stoke City.
Following their good form, Scotland international Richie says Rafael Benitez’s side must keep up the good work.
“It’s time to make new memories. You are as only as good as your last game and we are as good as we played in the Premier League on Saturday.” said Richie speaking in the Chronicle.
“We will build on that for the minute and there is a positive vibe around the place. We need to keep that and the only way we do that is through grit, determination and hard work.”
Richie has been a key figure in Benitez’s side this season, starting all of their five Premier League games so far.
“If you take your foot off the gas, you will soon start getting beaten and dropping points. We need to make sure that we keep getting better.”
