Newcastle welcome Stoke City to St James’ Park tomorrow afternoon as Rafael Benitez’s side look for their third consecutive top flight victory.

The occasion will be bigger for one man more than others however, as summer signing Joselu is set to face off against his former club, only a month after leaving the bet365 stadium.

The Spaniard joined Newcastle on a £5 million deal in August, and has since enjoyed a good start to his career on Teeside, after a difficult two year spell with the Potters.

Joselu was with Mark Hughes’ side for 2 years, however spent the second out on loan with Deportivo La Coruna, and the former Real Madrid man insists he will celebrate if he finds the net against his old employers tomorrow.

“I know the players and manager at Stoke. They have potential and good players.” said Joselu in The Mirror.

“It won’t be strange playing my old friends at Stoke because I only have my mind on Newcastle. It was my last team, for two years, and you have emotions for them. But that is over. Some fans supported me well and trusted me, but I had to leave the club.

“I am a striker and I am always happy when I score and the emotion is always there. Ask any striker. If I score a goal it is a goal and is important!”

Joselu found the net for the first time for his new club in the recent 3-0 victory over West Ham with a neat finish from inside the area, and the forward says he is enjoying life thus far at St James’ Park.

“I am happy with my start here. It is fast moving. I enjoy the city and my team-mates and staff. After a month, I can only say good things about the club.”
