Brighton and Hove Albion have secured the permanent signing of Tim Krul only weeks after joining the club on a season-long loan from Newcastle United.

The Dutchman moved to the Amex Stadium on loan on deadline day and made his Seagulls’ debut on Tuesday night in a narrow defeat to Bournemouth in the Carabao Cup.

The move is believed to pave the way for Krul to appear against his former club when Newcastle travel to Brighton at the weekend. As a loan player, he would have been unable to appear against his parent club, but after signing a permanent deal the shot stopper, who made 185 appearances for the Magpies, has swerved the rules.

Following Krul’s departure, a statement on the club’s website read (via Goal): “Everyone at Newcastle United would like to thank Tim for his long service to the club, and wish him and his family well for the future.”

Newcastle face Brighton at the Amex Stadium this Sunday.
