Former Newcastle United keeper Tim Krul has said he has nothing but praise for his former club and has promised a return to Tyneside in the future.

The Holland international left the Magpies in the summer for Premier League rivals Brighton on a season-long loan, however last week opted to make the move permanently to the Amex Stadium.

After over a decade at St James’ Park, Krul has revealed how he has loved his time at his ‘second home’.

“It’s been a great journey,” Krul said in the Chronicle following the weekend’s clash between his new and former clubs.

“It’s a new chapter now. Of course, at the moment it’s mad playing against a team you’ve played for for 11 seasons.

“It was amazing. I can’t say anything but praise. It’s a second home. Listen, I came as a 17-year-old. I got married there and my little girl was born there.

“Obviously, it’s major chapter in my life.”

The 29 year old, who made 185 appearances for the Magpies, also hinted at a potential return to the club, yet in what capacity he failed to note.

“My message to the Newcastle fans is just what I said in my tweet – a massive thank you. They were there for me through the bad times and the good times.”

“It’s been an amazing journey, a rollercoaster. It’s never dull there, for sure. I’ll probably even move back there after my career.”
