Javier Manquillo

It seems strange to suggest a new signing would instantly be under pressure to impress his new boss. Still, as much potential as Manquillo has, his signing was largely unheralded and the likes of DeAndre Yedlin and Paul Dummett were solid enough in full-back berths last term.

Obviously, just because a signing is unheralded does not mean it’s a bad one, just look at a certain Ciaran Clark. However, Manquillo needs to show much more than he did with Sunderland last season to make into the starting XI over the course of the season.

Not as desperate a situation as Mitrovic’s, though important the Spaniard gets off to a good start.
