According to Sky Sports, Newcastle United have identified West Ham United goalkeeper Adrian as a target this summer.

Rafa Benitez is reportedly aiming to shake up his options between the sticks this summer, having already loaned Matz Sels out and England U20 World Cup hero Freddie Woodman is expected to follow him on a similar deal.

The futures of both Tim Krul and Karl Darlow have also been cast into doubt at various points throughout the summer and the Magpies are believed to have failed in a bid to sign Willy Caballero, who instead joined Chelsea after being released by Manchester City.

With that in mind, Adrian is said to have emerged as a target on Tyneside. The Spaniard only penned a new deal down in east London recently, though the arrival of Joe Hart on loan will presumably see his playing time limited.

Still, the frustration in trying to land a new custodian could continue for Rafa Benitez, with the report claiming the Hammers will only consider allowing the 30-year-old to depart if they can land a replacement.

The Irons recently sold Darren Randolph, who was touted as a potential Toon target, to Middlesbrough, so they will apparently need someone to act as cover and competition for Hart.
