According to the Sun, La Liga outfit Malaga are keen on a loan move for Newcastle United striker, Aleksandar Mitrovic.

The Serbian marksman looks to be third in the pecking order when it comes to Rafa Benitez’s main central striking option, with both Dwight Gayle and Joselu selected before him during yesterday’s loss to Huddersfield Town.

Despite his popularity amongst sections of support, the 23-year-old has never really seemed to have his manager’s full trust, though recent reports have suggested the Magpies were rebuffing loan offers for the former Anderlecht man.

Still, this report suggests the Toon Army would rather ‘take a fee’ for the Serbia star, while the Spanish side are reportedly eager to land him on loan.

You get the feeling that Mitrovic would be allowed to depart St. James’ Park if Benitez could bring in a replacement. However, it’s proved a frustrating summer thus far on Tyneside and nothing about their business in the last few months would indicate that will happen.
